Don't base your decision to hire on the resume alone. It's important to look at the full picture and not just the piece of paper in front of you.

Recruit Continuously: Aggressive companies are always on the prowl for talent. They have a sense of what skills they need now and in the future, and what type of person will be a good fit. They look even when there are no current openings, because one can never predict when an employee might leave. Know what you need: Understanding job descriptions are an important factor in client and recruiter relationships. Companies that are interested in candidates with a specific skill set, should have clear and precise job descriptions. This is to insure that the recruiter assigned to that position will give you the best possible candidate for the job.

Interview Many Candidates: It's important to look at the full picture and not just the piece of paper in front of you. An applicant will list only positive points on a resume. Meeting a candidate in person, helps you really get to know a candidate better. Is the candidate with a one page summary of qualifications less qualified than the candidate with a more detailed resume or do you simply know less about their qualifications? You may even find that the candidate with the smaller summary possesses more skills than the other candidate. This is why it's important to interview many candidates so you don't sell yourself short for someone who fits the job solely on paper.
